Once again it's time for Thanksgiving here in the US.  This is the official start of the Holiday season so many people are planning their Friday shopping trips to the malls to take advantage of all the Black Friday specials, digging out the Christmas decorations and just in general preparing for a hectic several upcoming weeks.  But before all of that we have the Thanksgiving holiday.

Many people will be gathering with family and friends to stuff the turkey (then stuff themselves), and watch football.  I'm not much of a football fan but I do like the turkey and trimmings part, however this is not what Thanksgiving means to me.  It's a time to reflect and count your blessings.  To be truly thankful for what you have and have had.

It's time to gather with friends and family not to eat and watch football but to celebrate the love you have and share with each other.  It's a time to show appreciation, many of those who will be celebrating the holidays this year won't be here next year.  So take a moment, what are you thankful for in your life?

I'm so very thankful for my family, those still here and those who have passed on.  What they added to my life cannot be measured.  I'm thankful for all the new friends I have made over the years each of you touches my life in some way.  I'm thankful for all my old high school friends I've reconnected with this year, treasures from my past that I didn't appreciate in my youth but now value greatly with the wisdom of time.

Just stop for a minute or two and take the time to reflect, you'll find that you have much more to be thankful for than you think you do.

Even though Iceland does not celebrate thanksgiving, my wife and I do. Like everyone who wants to be there own boss, you want to be thankful for having the opportunity, taking that chance, that risk of trying to do so.....thats great and all, but I am just thankful for my family to be healthy, me be healthy and SOBER, thankful for my unborn child (due may 2nd), my friends and family back in Boston and throughout America, thankful for the people I have connected with here on Apsense, and other worthwhile social sites.

Happy Thanksgiving Apsense, and to all who participate here. :-)

Make that $500,000,000....(Five Hundred Million) Over the next five years. Now I'm even slightly more grateful... :)

The power of Gratefulness should always be treasured, and if possible, should become a most important part of your own Life plan.

I have become aware of curious Human habit of focusing solely on "Stuff that may happen ", that could probably interfere with our plans for a Greater Life and it rewards.

The tendancy for our brains to lean towards "Survival-Based " thoughts and scenarios can be overwhelming, and perhaps be the VERY CAUSE of the interferances that we so very much want to avoid...

A Balance is in order, and some decidedly clear-headed thinking about the GOOD things in our lives that we are accomplishing or experiencing, could provide that balance.

"ONE DAY does not an Eternity Make "-- (Unless you've foolishly spent it unkind to yourself) so adding a few moments of pure, un-adulterated Gratefulness to each and every day, is a "Good Thing "... :)

For example:

Today I worked up a bit of Gratefulness, even for the small commitment of $500,000 (over the next five years) for small business education, loans and support that Goldman-Sachs/Berkshire Hathaway has tossed at us, out of the $17 Billion in bonus money that they will give the own employees this year... :)
