Once again it's time for Thanksgiving here in the US. This is the official start of the Holiday season so many people are planning their Friday shopping trips to the malls to take advantage of all the Black Friday specials, digging out the Christmas decorations and just in general preparing for a hectic several upcoming weeks. But before all of that we have the Thanksgiving holiday.
Many people will be gathering with family and friends to stuff the turkey (then stuff themselves), and watch football. I'm not much of a football fan but I do like the turkey and trimmings part, however this is not what Thanksgiving means to me. It's a time to reflect and count your blessings. To be truly thankful for what you have and have had.
It's time to gather with friends and family not to eat and watch football but to celebrate the love you have and share with each other. It's a time to show appreciation, many of those who will be celebrating the holidays this year won't be here next year. So take a moment, what are you thankful for in your life?
I'm so very thankful for my family, those still here and those who have passed on. What they added to my life cannot be measured. I'm thankful for all the new friends I have made over the years each of you touches my life in some way. I'm thankful for all my old high school friends I've reconnected with this year, treasures from my past that I didn't appreciate in my youth but now value greatly with the wisdom of time.
Just stop for a minute or two and take the time to reflect, you'll find that you have much more to be thankful for than you think you do.
