I was recently contacted by someone who asked me to join a free business social network that shall remain nameless. I figured what they heck, it's free and it's a business social network. Far from it. It was nothing more than a spam generated adboard and free is a joke.
I was a member of the site for all of 24 hours before I deleted my profile. Why? in 24 hours time I received close to 200 email messages. Out of the 200 I received 2 that were actual welcome messages. 2 from my sponsor one welcoming me and the other telling me to call if I have any questions and about 10 from "Executives" encouraging me to upgrade to a paid membership. The rest where all nothing more than "look at my biz op".
That is not networking it's a spam adboard. Networking is about building relationships, not shoving your biz op down people's throats. Networking is getting to know people, not trying to drag them into a biz op on first meeting. It's such a shame that this is what networking seems to be turning into.
Oh and about that free thing, In order to access the functions of the network you have to be a paid member and the em-ail was free for 24 hours after which you had to be a paid member to access your e-mail. That's like having someone invite you to their home for dinner and then telling you you have to pay to eat.
It has really made me appreciate APSense more than I already did. Spam kept at a minimum and no bait and switch. When you get a free APSense account it really is free. All of the features are available to you without conditions or limits.
