Caught this while researching SEO for my blog. No doubt about it that BoingBoing is a pretty good example of a successful blog ( to put it mildy, lol). Here, Cory Doctorow explains how they do it.

Blogging is lots of fun and that how I use it. I several blogs that are targeted to a specific subject. I rescue exotic birds and love writing about the birds. We have so much fun with them trying to retrain them before adopting them out. Some of the articles are very funny while other are very informative.

Readers love blogs that provide information and help them out.

As I fit into the realm of a newbie. This goes in my files as a great tid-bit of information to implement if blogging is the way I choose to go. I different feedback's on if blogging is a good way to go. It's still a bit confusing for me. I guess it's actually how you present yourself.

I like the fact that he doesn't mention SEO/social media/advertising or any of the other so called 'skill's that most folks seem to think are the be all and end all of creating a successful blog.

I've no doubt that BoingBoing have their blog optimised as much as they can, and I'm equally sure their content is 'dugg' and 'stumbled' by it's readers, but the main thrust is just as Corey says. Giving the people what they want, - simple blogging 101
