It's the end of the year again. Almost time to ring in 2009 and you need to be prepared for the new year. There are things that we as business owners should be doing right now to make that transition go smoothly.
Do a year end closeout
January 1st brings with it, tax season. It's time to make sure that all of your receipts and tax records are in your shoebox and ready to go. If you are going to claim those deductions, make sure you can back it up. This also can reduce stress. Everything is together in one place.
Evaluate your business performance for the last year. Did you accomplish your goals, has your business grown? It is important to know where you stand before you can decide where you are going! Figure out what worked over the past year and what didn't.
Do your preplanning for 2009
Evaluate your progress on your long term goals(5+years) and see if you are on track. You may need to make some adjustments. Thisallows you to figure those adjustments into your 2009 goal setting. You may need to make minor shifts in focus but you want to do it now and get back on track.
Yes it's time to set your goals for 2009. But that subject can be very involved. It deserves an article all on its own. The main thing is to get the year end evaluation done and to access your progress on those long term goals. You will need this information in order to do your goal setting.
