Sometimes things happen in our lives and we looh back on the circumstances and say "that was the hand of God at work." It happens not only in our personal lives but also in our business lives. Yesterday was one of those days.
I started my day off with a networking breakfast and made several new contacts. I also re-connected with a contact I have been establishing a relationship with over the past year. All in all a very productive networking breakfast. I connected with a gentleman who is the marketing director for a local radio/TV station and he spent quite a bit of time kicking around ideas on how he could use his medium to spread the word on identity theft including the possibility of a live on air seminar. We will be getting together in the next couple of weeks to put together some serious ideas.
Right after that breakfast I had a scheduled appointment with the account manager for a local car wash company. She was very impressed with the information I presented and is taking it not only to the car wash, but also since she is a loan officer for a multi-state mortgage company, she is also going to be taking it to the Executive director of the mortgage company. So that was a two for the price of one deal!
But where the hand of God really manefested was in a phone call I got while I was in the appointment with her. I never answer my phone when I am in a meeting but the message that was left on my voicemail blew me away. I had exchanged business cards with a gentleman that works for an underwriting company. I always introduce myself as a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist. It seems he got back to his office and got a call from a benefits company that he works with looking for an identity theft "insurance" product. That led to an immediate appointment with them yesterday afternoon.
The company got a call from one of their clients, looking for an identity theft product to offer as a full fringe benefit for their 30 employees! After seeing what we have they were very happy and they are going to present it to their client! They were also just impressed period. I was on my way home from that appointment when I got a call back for the underwriter I had met at breakfast. He had just gotten off of the phone with them and they were singing my praises to him. Since he is working with businesses all over the eastern half of the US, he is now very keen to introduce me to more of his clients and business partners to help them with the identity theft issue!
All from a very quick 30 second introduction at a networking mixer. Yes as Kevin said in his post about teaching the PC class, networking works!
