I am a bit of a Star Trek Fan.  I will never dress up like Lt Uhura and attend a convention but, I do like the show and really do like dipping into the cultures of some of the alien races.  I've also noticed you can trace the roots of those alien cultures to different Human cultures a lot of the time.  For example the Klingons are nothing but Spartans with funny foreheads.  Another culture that is very human in it's roots are the Ferengi.  These guys are marketers on super steroids.  When you look at their Rules of Acquisition, you can find quite a bit to apply to your marketing efforts, after all they are all about business, but there's alot of the basic scammer in them too.

7. Keep your ears open-We have the saying "opportunity knocks". Both of these saying are a reminder to be aware of things that can lead you to opportunity but the Ferengi version can also remind us of the importance of listening.
